Girl attacked by bear in northern Michigan's Wexford County

Young victim transported to Traverse City hospital, condition unknown

WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich. - The Department of Natural Resources says a young girl was attacked by a bear in Wexford County Thursday night.

According to 9 & 10 News, the girl was transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Details about where the attack happened and the young girls condition have not been made available to Local 4 News and ClickOnDetroit.com.

According to CadillacNews.com, DNR officers searched the woods in Haring Township - northwest of the Wexford County Airport - Thursday night.

Wexford County Sheriff Gary Finstrom said central dispatch received a call for an ambulance from a home on Pine Knoll Drive Thursday night. Dispatchers were advised a young child had been attacked by a bear and possibly suffered injuries.
