Girls escape abduction attempt in Pontiac

Girls jump out of car after man grabs them

PONTIAC, Mich. – Two young Pontiac girls escaped from an attempted abduction Friday evening.

Oakland County sheriff's deputies say the girls, ages six and eight, were playing in front of a home on the 400 block of 4th Avenue when a man drove up and got out of his car.

He allegedly grabbed one girl and pushed her into the back seat of his car.  Then, after grabbing the second girl and putting her in the car, she managed to open the door and the two girls ran home. The mother of one of the girls called 911.

Deputies talked with two other children who were in the area at the time and they confirmed the girls' description of the man who grabbed them.

He is described as a light skinned black man, with shoulder length dreadlocks or braids. The girls said there may have been some gray in is hair.  The girls added they saw empty packs of Newport cigarettes on the floor of the car and said the man smelled of cigarettes.

He drove off in a silver mid-sized sedan.
