GM Powertrain Plant in Romulus cleared after suicidal man inside taken to hospital

ROMULUS, Mich. – Workers are being allowed back into the GM Powertrain Plant in Romulus after a suicidal man sparked an evacuation Friday morning.

The plant was evacuated at about 6 a.m. when police received 911 calls about a man with a gun.

Police said they found the man, who was only threatening to harm himself, and discovered that he was only armed with gun that only fires blank bullets.

He was taken to a hospital.

He is an employee.

The plant employs hundreds and makes a variety of six- and eight-cylinder engines.
