Detroit police surrounded the apartments, located on the 1,300 block of East Canfield, after a man was shot and killed around 1:30 a.m.
Officers had their flashlights out searching for evidence in the parking lot; they were also looking for evidence inside an apartment.
Sources told Local 4 there was a group of people drinking at one apartment unit Saturday night, before the shooting took place.
Hours later that fun somehow turned to anger. A fight erupted between two men and shots were fired in the parking lot of the complex.
Neighbors reported hearing at least two gunshots before seeing a man on the ground, struggling to breathe.
The man died from his injuries.
Residents at the complex say they saw police take several people into custody. Detroit police have not confirmed if they've found the man who pulled the trigger.
