John Kasich holds town hall in Utica

DETROIT – Ohio governor and Republican presidential candidate John Kasich will be campaigned in Michigan on Monday, holding town hall meetings across the state.

Kasich held a town hall meeting at the Macomb County GOP headquarters at 6:30 p.m.

The headquarters was packed with nearly 500 people to hear the governor speak.

"I can tell you folks, we are Americans before we were Republicans and Democrats and if we don't get that attitude going, we're not going to be successful in this country," Kasich said.

He told attendees that he was running a clean campaign and was not interested in spending his time attacking someone else.

Kasich talked in length about the need for government reform.

"The only thing that doesn't move fast is government," Kasich said. "We need to Uberize goverment."

Kasich held a Q&A where he took questions about education, the treatment of veterans, health care and global warming.

On Tuesday, Kasich will be holding a town hall meeting at the Livonia GOP field office at 10 a.m.
