Shelby Township mother Audrionna Rhoades is charged in the death of her 2-year-old son.

Rhoades, 21, is accused of leaving the toddler in a hot van for nearly 10 hours. Rhoades' grandmother spoke with Local 4 and she says there is more to the story.

Mary Catenacci says her granddaughter swears she left for work that day with her baby sound asleep in the mobile home where she lives.

Catenacci says other people are involved.

"I sat with her in the funeral home in private, she and I, she looked me right straight in the eye and said, 'Grandma, I swear to you on my life I left my baby sleeping on that futon,'" Catenacci said.

Catenacci says Audrionna is a young mom who loved her baby.

The grandmother shared Audrionna's Facebook post from about a month ago. Audrionna's post read, "The most important man in my life, he gets up every morning just to see me. Today as I was getting ready all I heard was, 'Ma-ma home, ma-ma k, ma-ma.' So I went in to give him a hug and he goes kiss. It's only things like that that make my life worth living."

Catenacci says it's hard to hear comments from people before the full truth is known.

"All I would ask is that people wait and see, I believe her I do and I will stand by her. Our family is broken we will never be the same," Catenacci said.
