Initial plans call for more than 30 marine life displays, including shrimp, starfish, seahorses, sharks and rays, and a tropical ocean tank with a walk-through tunnel.

The entertainment company said it also plans on showcasing the marine life specific to the Great Lakes region.

"The SEA LIFE aquarium will be the perfect complement to all of the existing family oriented attractions both at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets and in the area, greatly enhancing the existing shopping and entertainment experience," said Taubman CEO William Taubman.

Auburn Hills City Manager Peter Auger said the project is also expected to bring jobs with it.

Merlin Entertainment has SEA LIFE projects at areas such as Legoland, the Mall of America and Grapevine Mills mall in Dallas.
