Grisly murder-suicide scene uncovered in Inkster

Cindy and Tony Bailey found dead in their home on Helen Street

INKSTER, Mich. – An idyllic suburban setting has turned into what Local 4 police sources call a "house of horrors" and one of the worst scenes they've ever walked in on.

Early Tuesday morning, police found Cindy Bailey stabbed to death. Her husband, Tony Bailey, was found in the home's garage -- burned to death.

Investigators are calling the deaths a murder-suicide situation.

"We're getting word that there may have been some problems between the couple from family members," said Inkster Police Sgt. Jeffrey Twardzik.

Luther Snow, Tony Bailey's cousin, told Local 4 the man was unstable.

He said the couple often cared for some grandchildren in the home, but the children weren't there at the time of their deaths.

What happened:

Police said they went to the house late Monday night because the security alarm had gone off. But no one answered the door.

Thirty minutes later, neighbors called 911 because the home's garage was on fire.

As fire crews put out the fire, they noticed a blood trail. That's when they kicked in the home's door and found Cindy's body.

Sources said it appears her husband stabbed her more than 60 times before setting himself on fire in the garage.

Tony Bailey worked for GM, his wife for Ford.

They have an adult son.
