Grosse Ile officer recovering at home after truck crash

Police believe the driver of the truck was under the influence of drugs

GROSSE ILE, Mich. – A Grosse Ile officer who was hit by a truck towing a large trailer while riding a motorcycle, has been released from the hospital, and is now recovering at home. 

Officer Todd A. Brozek was run over by a truck Wednesday near Meridian and Groh roads after a man driving the truck made a wide turn, causing the officer to slide underneath.

He was taken to the hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit in stable condition.

Brozek suffered broken ribs and a broken scapula in the crash.

The family expressed their gratitude towards the Grosse Ile community on a Facebook post, and said Brozek was taking it easy at home. The family shared a photo of a smiling Brozek standing with a cast on his arm.

The driver was arrested on the scene, and police believe he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.
