Grosse Pointe police: Peeper at Anita Baker's window was mistaken

Woman in window was at wrong address

GROSSE POINTE, Mich. – Grosse Pointe Park police said the case of an alleged peeper at the home of Anita Baker  was just the case of a mistaken address.

Police Chief Stephen Poloni said Baker, a Grammy-award winning singer, reported seeing a woman peer into a window of her home on Lake St. Clair late Monday night and then try to open a back door.

A startled Baker ran outside and spotted a white Jeep, took down the license plate and called police.

Police said they were able to track down the license plate and the woman.

It turns out the woman was part of a cleaning crew that mistook Baker's home for the one they were supposed to be servicing.

Poloni said the woman was able to show them the address she was supposed to be at on her car GPS. It was two doors down.

Police said the cleaning crew did have permission to go inside the other address.

No charges have been filed.
