Gun wielding manicurist in Eastpointe brandishes gun during argument over glitter polish

Cellphone video captures tense moments at Nail Tech

EASTPOINTE – A manicurist at Nail Tech in Eastpointe brandished a pistol Saturday afternoon during an argument with a customer about glitter nail polish.

The nail salon is on Gratiot Avenue at 9 Mile Road.

Police said the customer requested glitter nail polish. The employee refused and the argument escalated.

“She angry because she put a nail polish on and she don’t want it and the pedicure took two hour,” the manager’s sister, Lee, said.

Cellphone video captured the moments when the employee pulled a pistol from a holster on his right hip, and held the gun behind his back before another employee comes between the argument and the firearm is re-holstered.

Employees said the worker was in training.

“He’s a newer employee,” regular customer Damien said. “We go here all the time because of the good service and are shocked by the video.”

Damien and his wife live in Northville and make the drive out to Eastpointe for the excellent service they say they receive at Nail Tech.

The employee with the gun fled the scene before officers arrived. Investigators are working to determine his identity.

“A lot of people carry firearms but how he brandished that weapon is just irresponsible,” Damien said.

Police said citizens should never put themselves in danger or remain in dangerous places in order to capture sensational videos.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Eastpointe Police Department.
