Hair salon robbers caught on video after stealing $2K in cash

Women in Oak Park targeted while getting their hair done

OAK PARK, Mich. – Oak Park Police are looking for two men in connection with a string of hair salon robberies in Metro Detroit.

The two men were caught on surveillance video Wednesday morning before robbing salon on 9 Mile and Geneva.

The video shows the men parking in the back of the salon in an older model SUV. Once the men get inside, one of them yells, "This is a stick up."

That's when the other man pulls out a gun and orders the five customers and the employees to hand over their purses.

Local 4 spoke to one of the stylists.

"We all thought we were going to die because no one comes in and robs anyone without masks on," said the woman, who asked not to be identified.

After stealing nearly $2,000 dollars in cash, the men forced the women and children to the back of the salon, where they are ordered to count to 100.

Surveillance video picked up the men casually walking back to their truck.  Police suspect they may also be behind two other armed robberies at salons this week in Warren and St. Clair Shores.
