Brothers were trying to swim across break wall gap

PORT AUSTIN, Mich. – A Hamtramck man drowned Saturday evening when he and his brother tried to swim across the break wall gap of Port Austin Horbor at 6:27 p.m.

The two brothers became exhausted while swimming in the choppy, strong current caused from a westerly-blowing wind. The surviving brother, also of Hamtramck, reported that he made it to the rock break wall, but his brother was too exhausted and fell below the surface.
