HARPER WOODS, Mich. – Harper Woods High School has changed its admissions policy to get into sporting events at the school all because of concerns of violence at games.
Students from both schools have to show their ID to get into the game and students from other districts will not be allowed inside.
Administrators say it's a move to protect the students and be as safe as possible.
"Across our nation, obviously, schools are revisiting their security policies," said Todd Biederwolf, the superintendent of Harper Woods schools. "We have had a couple of low level incidents and we just want to make sure that our students, our staff, and our guests are all safe."
Students and parents agreed that the new safety measures are a good idea.
"People they get in, bring guns, knives, whatever they're bringing to the school, so it's probably good to look at the IDs," said Exavier Mitchell, a junior at Harper Woods High School.
Parents hope this cuts down on any problems at the events.
"I think it's a great idea. I think they should have to show ID. Maybe that will cut down on some of the problems," said Letasha Wilkinson a parent whose child attends the school.
Harper Woods police also are involved to make sure things remain clam during the games.
