Police say a burglary suspect was found asleep inside a suburban Detroit garage with a wheelbarrow loaded with items he was trying to steal.
The Daily Tribune of Royal Oak reports 37-year-old William Goad was found inside a car in the garage of a 91-year-old woman. A neighbor called police about 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, saying it was suspicious that the garage door was open.
Police Chief Martin Barner says damage to the steering column and ignition of the car suggested that Goad was trying to steal the car.
The former Hazel Park man was arrested and arraigned Tuesday on charges of breaking and entering as well as attempted car theft. Goad is jailed pending a hearing next week.
The District Court says Thursday a court-appointed lawyer has been requested.
