YPSILANTI, Mich. - Police say an HIV-positive Ypsilanti man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy he met through an annual Christmas dinner he sponsored.
Fifty-three-year-old Leonardo Devinci Christian was arraigned Friday on multiple charges, including one count of sexual penetration with an uninformed partner when there's risk of AIDS, a felony that carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison.
He remains held in the Washtenaw County Jail on $50,000 cash bond.
Police don't know whether the boy is infected with the HIV virus.
Court officials didn't immediately know if Christian had a lawyer.
Police say the assaults began in 2011 when the boy was 13, and ended last month.
AnnArbor.com reports police interviews with the boy revealed numerous assaults at Christian's home.
Police say the relationship started when Christian gave the unidentified boy and his family free tickets to the dinner he sponsors.
