DETROIT -

A man was shot in the middle of a Detroit street Saturday night.

Police say the man was approaching Plymouth and Evergreen when a group of men standing on the corner began to taunt him.  Suddenly, the group attacked the man.  The man tried to defend himself, but was overpowered by the group.  The violent attack moved onto the busy street. 

Another man on the other side of the street produced a gun, and shot the homeless man. The group of attackers took off.  The man was left lying in the street, fighting for his life.

At this time, his condition is unknown.
