Homeowner fires shots from home toward car thieves

DETROIT – A homeowner on Detroit’s west side awoke to the sound of his car being stolen Friday morning.

In retaliation, the homeowner produced a gun and shot at the would-be car thieves from the second-story window of his home.

The homeowner fired four shots, paused and then fired three more before the thieves gave up and drove off.

Neighbors were startled by the gunfire despite the fact that the neighborhood is no stranger to gunfire.

Police said none of the bullets struck anything of significance, including the cars involved or the thieves.

No arrests have been made.
