HopCat restaurant to open in Ann Arbor, create more than 100 jobs

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A plan to bring a food and craft beer restaurant to Ann Arbor also includes creating more than 100 jobs.

BarFly Ventures said the fifth location of HopCat is scheduled to open in January 2015 in the downtown area on Maynard Avenue. The more than $2 million investment will result in the creation of 140 new jobs.

BarFly said the draft system will be the largest in the city, with up to 100 varieties of craft beer available on tap. Many of the taps will be dedicated to showcasing the artistry of Michigan's craft brewing industry with others featuring great craft beers from around the country and the world. A selection of rare and specialty bottled beers along with wines and cocktails also will be available.

HopCat's food menu -- "food your Mom would make if she loved beer" -- headlined by its famously addictive Crack Fries, includes an eclectic mix of fresh shareables, sandwiches, burgers, salads, wraps and big plates.

"Downtown Ann Arbor's history as an outstanding dining, art and music destination is one of the main factors that drew us to the city," said Mark Sellers, founder of HopCat. "With a strong business community along with the University of Michigan, the city is a perfect fit for HopCat's philosophy of offering a unique, comfortable environment to enjoy great beer and great food with friends."
