Hungry Howie's prepares Super Bowl TV ads

MASISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – Hungry Howie's Pizza, based in Madison Heights, is ready for the Super Bowl.  The pizza chain will be running special TV ads here in Michigan just before the opening kickoff and before the start of the halftime show. Watch: 2012 Coca Cola Super Bowl ad

The humorous commercial was prepared by local production team and filmed here in metro Detroit.

Hungry Howie's marketing chief Jeff Rinke likes it that way.

"Our ad agency is Michigan-based and we thought keeping the talent local was a great way to keep it all Michigan," Rinke said.

The commercials were filmed in the Steelcase showroom of NBS Commercial Interiors.

NBS director of operations Ed Kleiss was happy to cooperate.

"Bring it on. They are a great customer. We've known them for years and we are glad to have them," Kleiss said.

Hungry Howie's has 500 outlets nationwide, but is only the tenth largest U.S. pizza chain. Still, Jeff Rinke dreams of a day when the chain will have a nationwide Super Bowl ad.

"Oh, I'm hoping there will be a national spot in the future. We're poised for growth," Rinke said.

The future holds more innovation from Hungry Howie's, which features flavored crusts.  Customers will soon be able to select pizza crusts with the flavors of cheese puffs, barbecue chips and everything bagel.
