ANN ARBOR, Mich. -

Hyundai Motor America's president and CEO paid a visit to Ann Arbor Friday to award a $250,000 grant to C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.

The grant was awarded by Hyundai Hope on Wheels to Dr. Craig Byersdorfer for his research focused on improving the treatment of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in children.

Over the course of 2013, Hope on Wheels will donate $14 million to children's hospitals nationwide through its Hyundai Scholar Grant and Hyundai Hope Grant programs. Celebrating its 15th year, Hope on Wheels will surpass $72 million in total donations to pediatric cancer research and programs since its inception in 1998.

C.S. Mott Children's Hospital has received $500,000 from Hope on Wheels since 2012.
