Icy water floods portion of Michigan Avenue in SW Detroit

DETROIT – A water main break on Michigan Avenue in southwest Detroit caused an icy headache Thursday morning for commuters.

Michigan Avenue was closed between Lonyo and Central avenues for several hours because of flooding. It has since reopened.

The flood waters were icy and slushy.

Ken Corbett's car got stuck.

"I saw other cars go through it," Corbett said. "I thought I could make it. I got almost through when my car died on me. Now, it's just full of water."

The Detroit Water Department tended to the water main break and brought in salt trucks to help with the ice.

The water also flooded part of Crazy Horse adult entertainment.
