INKSTER, Mich. – The future of the Inkster Police Department is expected to be announced Monday during a public hearing at 6 p.m.
The city is considering eliminating the entire police force and contracting with the Wayne County Sheriff's Department to take over patrols.
It could mean 25 Inkster police officers would lose their jobs. The city's budget must be approved Monday.
There are 2 options being considered by the city.
Option 1:
The Wayne County Sheriff's department could take over the Inkster Police Department.
Option 2:
The Inkster Police Department would merge with the Garden City Police Department.
