Windsor restaurant fire burned for more than 24 hours

Fire at Le Chef Restaurant under investigation

DETROIT – The fire at a restaurant in Windsor visible Monday from across the Detroit River burned for more than 24 hours, according to reports. 

Windsorite.ca reports Ontario fire officials did not declare the fire at Le Chef Restaurant completely out until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire sent black smoke into the air which was visible Monday morning from across the river in Detroit. 

No injuries were reported. Local 4 was getting calls and emails from people across the city wondering what that black smoke was coming from. Sky4 captured video of firefighters working to douse the flames. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

Monday was a national holiday in Canada called "Victoria Day," which honors Queen Victoria's birthday.Â
