The husband of a Detroit-area woman who was strangled in January has been charged with plotting to have the man charged in her death killed.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Wednesday said Bob Bashara is charged with plotting to have Joe Gentz killed.
“During the course of this investigation, we became aware that Mr. Bashara was allegedly looking for someone to kill Mr. Gentz in the Wayne County Jail prior to his July 23 court day,” Worthy said.
Worthy said Bashara is charged with one count of solicitation to murder.

Bashara is accused of trying to hire a hit man between June 8 and June 25.
“We are alleging that this defendant, Mr. Bashara, met with another person, not a law enforcement official, on several occasions for the purpose of hatching a plan to kill Mr. Gentz in jail,” Worthy said. “Our evidence will show that Mr. Bashara paid, there was an exchange of money with another individual, to kill Mr. Gentz.”
Bashara has been arraigned and his preliminary examination is planned for July 24th.
His bail was set at $15 million cash. If he posts it, he must turn in his passport, driver's license and wear a tether.

Bashara was arrested Monday. He was held at the Grosse Pointe Park Police Department before being moved to the Wayne County Jail, where he is on suicide watch.
His car was also impounded.
Who is Joe Gentz?
Gentz is charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the Grosse Pointe Park mother's death.
He was a handyman for Bob Bashara, helping him with various real estate throughout the metro Detroit area.
Sources say Gentz told police he was forced to kill Jane under the order of her husband.
