Investigators say the number of tips is dwindling in the kidnapping and slaying of a 5-year-old Michigan girl who disappeared four years ago and was found buried near a Michigan river.
Detective Joseph Hammond of the Monroe County, Mich., sheriff's department tells The Blade of Toledo, Ohio, that a hotline set up for the Nevaeh Buchanan case gets about one tip a month. Hammond was part of the original investigative team, and says the case still is active.
The group Justice for Nevaeh sponsored a remembrance and fundraiser Wednesday. A few dozen people turned out for the event.
Nevaeh disappeared May 24, 2009, from Monroe, located between Detroit and Toledo, Ohio.
Her body was found 10 days later along the nearby River Raisin.
