Jeep hits train in Waterford; Driver arrested

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 21-year-old woman wasn't hurt but was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving early Sunday morning after her Jeep hit a train in Waterford Township.

Police said the woman's Jeep Liberty hit the train as it crossed Airport Road just south of Olympic Parkway.

The driver said she tried to stop but wasn't able to because of the slippery road conditions, police said.

The Jeep went through the crossing gate and hit the train.

Police said the woman, a Commerce Township resident, had been drinking and was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence. She was lodged at the Oakland County Jail.
