Judge issues bench warrant for Kilpatrick book publisher rep

Publisher rep could lose law license upon failure to show in court

DETROIT – The Michigan Supreme Court refused to block a Circuit Court hearing Wednesday aimed at collection money from the sales of Kwame Kilpatrick's book.

Then, the representative of the Tennessee-based publisher for "Surrendered: The Rise Fall and Revelation of Kwame Kilpatrick," failed to show up for the Circuit Court hearing.

Circuit Court Judge David Groner issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the representative, attorney Jack Gritton. The warrant requests Gritton reports to the court to explain why nearly $20,000 in profits from the book have not been turned over to the city of Detroit in restitution from the former mayor.

If Gritton does not show up in court he could lose his law license.
