Justin Verlander kicks off first 4 Star 4 Mile race in Detroit

DETROIT – It's one of Justin Verlander’s most important plays, helping veterans.

The Tigers pitcher, who founded Wins for Warriors, on Sunday kicked off the very first “4 Star 4 Mile” race in Detroit.

Every runner's entrance fee goes toward helping veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Twenty percent of post-9/11 vets suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder when they come home and that’s where the starting pitcher wants to come in for the save.

Verlander committed $1 million of his own money to start Wins for Warriors. You can visit the organization's website here.
