DETROIT – BASF Corporation and the Michigan Science Center are partnering to present Kids' Lab, a series of hands-on chemistry workshops for children ages 6 to12, that take place at the science center every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year.
"Through these fun and engaging workshops, BASF Corporation is helping us further our mission to inspire young minds and instill a passion for science in the next generation of Michigan's scientists," said Todd Slisher, director of visitor experience of the Michigan Science Center.

Each lively and interactive 45-minute lab session focuses on a different concept of chemistry including "Playful Polymers," "The pHun Factor," "Operation Filtration" and others.
"BASF is committed to helping provide science education through several important programs, because we realize that today's students will be the innovators, leaders and entrepreneurs of the future," said Greg Pflum, Vice President and General Manager of BASF's Wyandotte facility. "Our Kids' Lab program at the Michigan Science Center is just one example of how BASF encourages children to explore and discover chemistry in the world around them."
Participants in Kids' Lab receive a lab apron, certificate of participation and a pouch filled with other takeaway items. Accompanying these materials is the Kids' Lab mascot, morpH™, a cartoon-like element that can "morph" into any of the basic forms of matter – a solid, liquid or gas.
Reservations are not required for the Kids' Lab at Mi-Sci, and workshops are free with paid general admission.
