UMAAAC to hold the 2013 Celebrity Athlete Golf Classic

CANTON, Mich. – On Friday, July 19, the University of Michigan African American Alumni Council (UMAAAC) will host the Celebrity Athlete Golf Classic & Awards Banquet at the Arthur Hill-designed Pheasant Run Golf Club on 46750 Summit Parkway in Canton.

During this event, Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro linebacker and University of Michigan alumni LaMarr Woodley will be honored.

WDIV-Local 4 Meteorologist and Michigan alumnus Andrew Humphrey will serve as Media Chair and Emcee.

Alumni athletes Derrick Walker (Tight End, 1985-89), Jim Betts (Defensive Back, 1991-95), Stan Edwards (Running Back, 1972-82), Jimmy King (Fab Five 1991-95), and Amber Hey (Women's Varsity Track and Field, 2005-09) will serve as Honorary Chairs for this event.

UMAAAC has a goal of raising $100,000 to support the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Fund at this event.

Alumni, students, faculty, and others will have the opportunity to reacquaint, network, and meet some of the student recipients of the MLK Scholarship awards.

The 2013 Celebrity Athlete Golf Classic is an open event, and all are welcome to attend. Sponsors, golfers and donors can register and pay online at www.umaaac-golf.com.

Early bird and banquet tickets are $125.00; banquet-only tickets are $75.00.
