Lincoln Park woman rescued from burning car

Good Samaritan, police officer help pull woman from burning car

LINCOLN PARK, Mich. – A 71-year-old Lincoln Park woman was trapped in her burning car Thursday morning when a good Samaritan and a police officer rescued her.

Charles Greathouse was doing repair work at the Burger King on Fort Street, near Goddard Road, when he saw a commotion at the credit union next door. A vehicle had caught fire while sitting at an ATM and quickly spread from the hood to engulf the vehicle.

While others were driven back by the heat, Greathouse ran towards the car.

The woman in the vehicle had pulled up close to the ATM and couldn’t open the door to get out.

A Lincoln Park officer arrived on the scene and with Greathouse, they reached through the back window and pulled the woman to safety.
