The Greening of Detroit is working collaboratively with neighborhood groups and corporate partners to restore the tree canopy in Detroit neighborhoods.
The fall kick-off of multiple tree plantings throughout the city of Detroit with a goal of putting an additional 1,527 new trees in the ground before Thanksgiving Day.
In addition, this is the beginning of a new partnership with The Conservation Fund. Donations from U-Haul and its customers to The Conservation Fund’s Go Zero® program will support the planting of 1,600 trees at Rouge Park in the next 18 months.
Quicken Loans is providing much of the volunteer labor for this event, as part of The Greening’s annual Green Thumb Volunteer Challenge, and will help plant 300 trees that morning.
