Mom invents 'Super Blanky' for kids

Super Blanky is part blanket, part cape.

It's the creation of 50-year-old Karen Czarnik of Commerce Township.

"Well, I started making them for my nieces and nephews and then when I first gave them as gifts, we were in a restaurant and the kids opened them, put them on and started flying around the restaurant with their blankies and they were so excited," Czarnik said. "I got a lot of attention from like the people around our table and the waitresses all came over, and I thought, ‘OK, well, this is kind of cool and people liked it.'"

Her design has a patent-pending sleeve and she has sold more than 1,000 of them. They range in price from $32 to $47, depending on the size.
