Local 4 News Wins MAB Awards

DETROIT – WDIV-TV Local 4 is proud to be honored for broadcasting excellence in the categories of Breaking News Story and Weathercast by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB).
Local 4 News won the MAB Market 1 awards, sweeping the category of best Breaking News with top honors for WDIV reporter Marc Santia's live coverage of crowd altercations during the controversial visit to Dearborn by pastor Terry Jones, as well as a Merit Award for Local 4 News Nightcam reporter Tim Pamplin's compelling coverage of a dramatic house fire. In addition, WDIV won for best Weathercast with Local 4 Director of Meteorology Chuck Gaidica's coverage of severe flooding in metro Detroit, and received a Merit Award for best overall newscast.
These newest honors for the Local 4 News team follow two highly coveted 2011 Edward R. Murrow Awards from the RTDNA for news coverage and the 2011 Service To America Award presented by the National Association of Broadcasters recognizes the station's commitment to outstanding community service.
Local 4 News is currently the #1 newscast at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. in Nielsen ratings for the Detroit television market, and Local 4 News at 11 p.m. is the highest-rated newscast of all NBC affiliates in the top 11 markets nationwide. In addition, Local 4's www.ClickOnDetroit.com and www.JustWeather.com are leading breaking news and weather websites in Michigan.
