DETROIT – Saturday was Thank a Police Officer Day and small businesses throughout metro Detroit were giving away free items to police officers as a way to thank them for keeping communities safe.
In an effort to strike down police brutality, the 12th Precinct Neighborhood Coalition made up of 50,000 families participated in Thank a Police Officer Day.
They teamed up with local restaurants, such as Bucharest Grill, 1917 American Bistro and Good Cakes & Bake. Officers were treated to lunches and dessert.
Thank a Police Officer Day gives communities a chance to let police officers know how much they are appreciated.
