2 Detroit police officers, another person injured in crash; officers expected to be OK

3 injured, including police officers, in crash at West Grand Boulevard, Lodge Freeway Service Drive in Detroit

DETROIT – Two Detroit police officers and another person were injured Tuesday night in a crash near West Grand Boulevard and the southbound Lodge Freeway Service Drive.

All three were taken to a nearby hospital. Police said the officers were banged up but expected to be OK.

The condition of the woman driving the other vehicle was not immediately known.

Police said two vehicles were involved in the crash.

Witnesses told Local 4 that the police car was driving with lights flashing and sirens sounding when another driver either didn't see the police car or didn't know they had to stop, forcing the police car into a pole.

The intersection was shut down as police investigated the crash.
