$20,000 reward offered in Navy officer's killing

DETROIT – A cash reward of up to $20,000 is being offered in the unsolved slaying of a Navy petty officer in Detroit.

On Jan. 4, 2013, Petty Officer Terrence Hill and a 21-year-old woman were in a pickup truck in the area of Manor Street and Seven Mile when two people confronted them.

Hill was forced out of the truck and shot in the chest. The woman wasn't hurt.

Crime Stoppers held a press conference Tuesday asking for tips.

Police have released a sketch of the gunman, described as a black man with a dark complexion, 5 feet 7 inches tall, small build and in his 20s. He was wearing a black skull cap with a white line on it. A second suspect was dressed in all white.

Hill served in Waukegan, Illinois, as an artillery instructor. He graduated from the Detroit School of Arts in 2006.

His 21-year-old brother and step-brother serve in the United States Army.
