Cars stolen from Detroit Motor City Casino parking garage

Couple says pickup truck was stolen from Detroit casino's parking garage

DETROIT – Two Motor City Casino patrons reported having their cars stolen from the casino's parking garage on Thursday night.

Brenda and Ed White went downtown to the casino Thursday night for what was supposed to be a quick getaway.

"We went. We gambled. We were having a good time," said Brenda White.

Then, she looked out her hotel window and noticed the couple's truck, a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup, was missing from the garage. It was one of four vehicles which were reported stolen or tampered with in the garage that night.

The garage supposedly has 24-hour security.

"I immediately just went into a panic," said Ed White. "So I went back downstairs and I contacted security. And there was a bunch of other people down there waiting and they were crying and hollering because their cars had been stolen and all the stuff had been ripped out of their car."

A spokesperson for the casino said they were working with police to try to find the stolen cars.

The White family said they will now think twice about going downtown.

"All I know is that we parked our car in their garage with the feeling like it was going to be safe and secure, just like ourselves walking in and out of there, never worrying that something was going to happen to us," said Brenda White. "Now, to be honest with you I don't know, I don't know if I will go downtown anymore."

Casino security was working with Detroit police to try and review surveillance video from the garage. Police said they found one of the stolen cars, but it was not the White's.

The Whites said the above truck is similar to the one they had stolen from the parking garage.
