Court date Thursday for 'blow torch' rapist

Roderick Neely expected in court for preliminary exam

The Detroit man who has become known as the 'Blow Torch' rapist is scheduled to be in court Thursday for a preliminary exam.

24-year-old Roderick Neely is charged with torture, assault with intent to maim, intent to commit criminal sexual conduct and felony firearm. He is also accused of beating and using a blow torch to burn a woman's feet.

His exam is slated to begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in 36th District Court in Detroit.
