DETROIT – The Detroit Department of Transportation announced plans to make a series of changes to help the transit system improve on Friday.
The changes were announced during a public hearing at the Northwest Activities Center and Wayne Community College in Detroit today. Two more hearings will be held tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the same locations.

Some of the changes announced at the hearings include:
Bus service from 1:00 a.m. - 4:00 am will be discontinued
Route 11/Clairmount - weekend service only will be discontinued
Route 46/Southfield - Sunday service only will be discontinued
Route 78/Imperial Express - route eliminated
Route 49/Vernor - Service will end at Rosa Parks Transit Center
According to DDOT, the changes will help move the company toward operations that are consistent with its budget, and will help provide fare stability for its customers.
