Detroit mayor to take part in investiture ceremony

DETROIT – Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, members of the City Council and police commissioners participated in a ceremony on Tuesday celebrating the city's future.

The special joint investiture program with members of Detroit's faith-based community was held at City Hall.

Duggan started his term as mayor last Wednesday. He has limited powers because Detroit's finances are controlled by state-appointed emergency manager Kevyn Orr.

Orr is leading Detroit through the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.

Duggan is an ex-chief executive of the Detroit Medical Center. He's said that he and Orr have agreed to share some of the duties in running the city.
