DETROIT – A police chase ended in a violent crash Wednesday evening in Detroit.

Wayne State Police were pursuing a vehicle on Interstate 94 when it exited the freeway at Woodward Avenue. The vehicle struck a pole along Woodward Avenue.
The driver of the car was killed. The passenger is hospitalized and under police watch.
Police originally were pulling the vehicle over for a traffic violation.
