Detroit police search for missing mother of 2

Police say Tamala Wells last seen in 19700 block of Appleton Street in Detroit; her car already has been found

DETROIT – Family members of a missing Detroit mother of two will be scouring the city Wednesday in an attempt to bring her home.

Tamala Wells hasn't been seen since Aug. 6 in the area of the 19700 block of Appleton Street. The 33-year-old was driving her white, four-door Pontiac Grand Prix. It was later found abandoned on Coventry Street, between Lantz Avenue and Emery Street.

Wells' mother, Donna Davis, flew in from Florida to search for her daughter.

"My biggest concern is, where is my baby? She doesn't do this. She does not go away and not call somebody," Davis said.

Davis said her daughter has two children who are about to start school and lives with her boyfriend, Ricky Tennant. Tennant said Tamala was just going out to take care of some business. "I love Tamala. Come back home," Tennant said.

Wells' brother, Ricardo Wells, said it's very uncharacteristic of her sister to not have any communication with her family.

"I talk to her all the time. I see her four or five times a week. She'll always call me if I don't see her. I haven't heard from her," he said.

The family is asking for help.

"I want people to step up and tell me where my daughter is. If you see her, call one of us and let us know she's OK," Davis said. "I just want her home, safe. That's it."

Wells is described as a black woman, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 150 pounds, brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a white shirt and jean shorts.

Anyone with information on Wells' whereabouts is asked to call the Detroit police at 313-596-5240.
