Detroit Tigers surpass 1M 'likes' on Facebook page

Tigers become make MLB history by reaching 1,000,000 mark

DETROIT – Computers, the Internet and Facebook were many decades away when the Tigers first took the field in 1901, but the fan support has been strong from the very beginning. That tradition of support has carried on even stronger into the information age, and made the Detroit Tigers one of baseball's leaders in social media.

One of the key components of the Tigers social media effort, the Tigers Official Facebook page, reached a major milestone Tuesday night by topping one million "Likes" to become just the fourth American League club to reach the one million mark. The Tigers are the first American League Central team to reach one million and the 10th in Major League Baseball.
