Dollar stores targeted by armed robbers in Warren, Detroit

Armed robbers hit Family Dollar stores in Warren, Detroit

DETROIT – Family Dollar stores have become hot spots for thieves in Warren and Detroit.

Two stores in Warren were recently hit by armed men demanding cash. Surveillance video shows two men with semi-automatic handguns at a Family Dollar at 9 Mile and Ryan roads. They confronted the manager and took off with cash from the register.

Sources in Warren say the same men robbed two Family Dollar locations. Investigators are trying to figure out if they are the same men who robbed a Family Dollar store on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit.

The men on the Detroit store surveillance were also armed and cleaned out the cash register.

Moreover, a dollar store on the west side of Detroit also was robbed this past weekend. The owner opened up in the morning and his first customers were armed men demanding cash.

"When I walked in, he walked behind me, put the gun on my back and he asked me to bring him to the back of the store," said owner Ahmed Amakash.
