DTE Energy restores power to Detroit high rises

Transformer failure left 4,000 without power

DETROIT – People living in several high rises on Detroit's east side have their lights back on.

At the height of the outage Wednesday, more than 4,000 customers were without power in buildings including Harbortown, River Place and the 1300 Lafayette Tower.

The outage was cased by a failure at a substation in the area.

Crews were able to replace equipment and restore power to all customers around 10am Thursday.
