Elderly woman, disabled son stabbed to death in Detroit

DETROIT – Detroit police are investigating a brutal crime on the city's west side.

An elderly woman and her disabled son were found murdered inside their home on Holmur Street near the Lodge and Livernois.

Police sources say 70-year-old Francis Herron and her son 35-year-old Jason Herron had both been stabbed multiple times.

"I'm shocked, I'm shocked to my ankles and whoever did this, they need to be taken off the street," said William Harris.

Harris is the brother of Francis and Jason's uncle. He believes the killer was someone they knew.

"Looks like she might have let them in; somebody that they trusted that they shouldn't of trusted," Harris said.

Harris says he and his sister were very close. He even helped her buy the home 40 years ago.

"If you needed something she had, she'd give it to you, you didn't have to steal it," he said.

Harris' nephew Jason got a second chance at life after being shot in the back in 2001. He was paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair.

Harris says it takes a cruel, cold-blooded killer to take the lives of a sweet elderly lady and her disabled wheelchair bound son.

"These people need to be caught and if I had my way, I'd be the executioner and I'd pull the switch for them," said Harris.
