I-375 in downtown Detroit reopens after fallen wires

Both directions of freeway closed Monday at Larned Street

DETROIT – The Detroit Fire Department and Michigan State Police briefly closed Interstate 375 Monday in both directions because of wires that fell across the freeway at Larned Street.

The freeway reopened Monday afternoon after the wires were removed.

Lt. Michael Shaw of the Michigan State Police said the wires fell from the overpass. The cause of the wires falling is unknown at this time, though it does not appear to have been caused by an accident.

The fire department said drivers called 911 to alert authorities about the wires being down.

No injuries were reported.
