Off-duty Detroit Public Schools officers shoots man

Police say incident on Clark Street was part of domestic dispute

DETROIT – An off-duty Detroit Public Schools officer shot a man early Friday morning during a family dispute in a home on the city's southwest side.According to Detroit Public Schools spokesman Steve Wasko, the shooting happened around 6 a.m. Friday after the officer received a call about a possible intruder at the home in southwest Detroit.

Wasko says the officer saw indications of a break-in at the house when he arrived and confronted the intruder, who was shot once.
DPS says the intruder was listed in temporary serious condition at a hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Wasko says the officer will be placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
